Executive Committee Biographies
John
C. Jones, President
"John C. Jones is a Senior Analyst of Corporate Reimbursement
and Patient Access for ProMedica Health System. Prior to working at
ProMedica, John was an auditor with the public accounting firm of
Ernst & Young. John is a graduate of Central State University,
where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and Finance. He is currently
working on his M.Div. at Andersonville Theological Seminary.
Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, John has a
heart for and love of the community in which he lives. He serves
as an Associate Minister at the Christian Temple Baptist Church
under the pastorate of his father, Rev. Charles E. Jones. He is
married to Shaundra Jones and they have two lovely daughters - Naomi
(4) and Cathryn (2).
John is a member of various boards and organizations
which include: Greater Toledo Urban League Board of Directors; Healthcare
Financial Management Association; Ohio New Life Baptist District
Association; Baptist Minister's Conference of Toledo and Vicinity
and he is a Life Member of the National Association for the Advancement
of Colored People.
Diana
Patton, Vice President
Diana graduated from St. Wendelin High School in 1986, and went on
to the University of Toledo to receive a bachelor’s degree in
Business Administration, and a minor in Legal Assisting in 1990. She
then received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toledo,
and passed the Ohio State Supreme Court Bar Examination in 1997, to
practice law. Diana then attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition
(“IIN”) in Manhattan NY where she received her Holistic
Health Counseling Certification as governed by the American Association
for Drugless Practitioners (“AADP”) in June, 2005.
Currently Diana operates a company called Equilibria,
which stands for “Women in Balance.” She counsels individuals
through a 6-month program, and group clients (ranging from 4 to
6 in a group) on holistic attributes that include nutrition, physical
activity, relationships, career, and spirituality. Diana helps these
women set goals to, for example, improve their eating habits, stop
cravings and binges, feel better about their body image, get to
an ideal weight, experience an increase satisfaction with their
life, and help them find their purpose in life. Diana also offers
corporate lunch-n-learns for all types of employees that help employees
and employers improve morale and increase productivity. And, Diana
is very active as an inspirational speaker for various organizations
and group functions. She is quoted and highlighted in the book “Integrative
Nutrition, the Future of Nutrition,” and is currently writing
a book entitled “Inspiration in my Shoes.”
Diana is involved with various board and committees
ranging from health and legal issues and community thriving organizations
such as the Greater Toledo Urban League Young Professionals chapter
, where she is also the Personal and Professional Development Chairperson.
Most notably and of highest mention, she loves to spend time with
her family; her husband, David S. Patton, and her two children,
Cameron Jackson ("CJ") Patton and Ciera Rachelle Patton."
Rita Russell, Treasurer
"Rita Russell is an Associate Vice President at Huntington National
Bank. A graduate of the University of Toledo, Rita is very involved
in various community activities and serves faithfully in various capacities
as a member of Cornerstone Church. In addition to serving as the chapter's
Treasurer, she is also the chairperson of the Finance and Fund Development
Committee.
Alan Bannister, Secretary
"Alan Bannister is employed in the Corporate Sales Division
of Sprint/Nextel Communications. A graduate of Kentucky State University,
Alan is dedicated and committed to betterment of his native Toledo,
where he currently resides with his wife Pateka. He is a proud graduate
of St. Francis De Sales High School and is actively involved in
various organizations throughout the community, which include: LucasCountyDemocrats.org.;
past member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Party; Omega
Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Jamilah Jones, Community Service Chair
"Jamilah N. Jones a recruiting officer in the University of Toledo's
Graduate School. As a graduate of the University of Toledo, Jamilah
is dedicated to helping others. As the coordinator of our community
service activities, Jamilah was responsible for organizing our first
event - 2005 National Day of Service: "Cars and Cures, Community
AIDS Awareness Day". She is a member of the New Covenant Baptist
Church, where she serves in various capacities. Jamilah is also a
member of several organizations, which include: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority,
Inc.; Golden Key; The Toledo Alumni Association.
Ahmad
Kynard, Membership/Public Relations Chair
Ahmad is a skilled Controls Engineering with 4 years of experience
in the Water/Wastewater market and Primary Education market. Ahmad's
duties include Project Management, Controls design, engineering, Programming
and start-up. Ahmad Coordinates our Controls activities and is also
involved with sales.
Dana Ewing, Policy and Procedure Chair
"Dana Ewing is Legal Counsel for HCR ManorCare, headquartered
here in Toledo, Ohio. She is actively involved many community issues
and organizations and has also worked on several political campaigns.
Dana is a wife and a mother of two beautiful children.
Joe
McNamara, Civic and Political Engagement
Joe is a Toledo native (Sacred Heart Grade School and Sylvania Schools
for the rest). Joe has a B.A. from the University of Michigan and
a J.D. from the New York University School of Law. He is a civil litigator
with the law firm Cooper and Walinski.
He is active in many community groups such as:
the Toledo Lucas County Library Board of Trustees, the Greater Toledo
Urban League, Inc. Board of Directors, the Lucas County Young Democrats,
and the 2006 Class of Leadership Toledo. He hails from a very political
family and enjoys reading, debating, and games.
